  9. Mrs. Scott was a wonderful, patient teacher. She gave me the confidence I needed and encouraged me to take a more advanced math class. She knew I could do it and she was right there to help. Also, Mrs. Scott wrote me a recommendation when my parents put me in private school. Thank you Mrs. Scott. I will never forget my very kind 7th grade math teacher.

  12. Four Seasons Garden Club of Kennett Square will have special memories of their former president (1993-95) and lifetime member. Mary performed the many club activities quietly yet with precision and generosity. Humbly she worked on the Junior Gardener Yearbooks year after year and chaired the Award’s Committee taking pride in utilizing and perfecting the “computer” when many of us younger members were afraid to tackle the PC.
I will remember in my heart the lovey, gentle woman with a keen sense of humor and the determination to do everything well and make everyone she taught feel special. I appreciate all the many qualities I learned from my Dear friend, Mary Scott.

  17. Dear Mary was a dedicated teacher and a very “hands on” director of the Kennett Symphony. It was my privilege to know her husband, Bob, before he died and also to work together with Mary on a variety of symphony matters, including young artist competitions, for which she had a passion, and the League Luncheon Fashion Show which provided funding for Children’s Concerts.. My mother, five years her senior, also volunteered for the KSO and Mary was always very kind to her. I remember her with fondness and sincere gratitude for the myriad hours she gave to the symphony. A lovely gentle woman – may her memory be a blessing for all who knew her.

  22. I worked with Mary for many years at Kennett and a finer person would be hard to find. Kind, gentle, soft spoken but with a drive to work with young students and help them learn. I was fortunate to play sports against David and with David at West Chester State and to teach Joan. Great children of a great family. Mary, you’ll be missed. Tim Skiles

  24. Mary had a talent for teaching that was envied by all and embodied by few. She took the “sting” out of learning skills that would have stymied many a student had it not been for Mary’s patience and ever present believe that every person could master the most complex elements of mathematics. She was witty and interested in others, and yes, never failed to reference the value of her Girls’ High education. Her contributions to teaching and to those who had the pleasure of working with her will be sorely missed.

  25. I had the priveldge to know and care for Mary at Linden Hall. She was a sweet soul whose smile would delight me. I would especially see that smile when I gave her a cup of hot tea with dessert. The best thank you I could get. She will be deeply missed. To Ken…..her faithful son….you have honored your mother daily with your devotion to her. A true testament of Gods goodness in your heart. God bless all of Marys family in the days to come.
