Elvera “Vera” Taylor

May 3, 1947 - September 2, 2016 Landenberg, PA | Age 69 Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend.

Elvera “Vera” Taylor, age 69, of Landenberg, PA, passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Chester County Hospital. She was the wife of James P. Taylor, Sr., with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.

Born in West Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Louis F. DiBartolomeo, Sr. and Louise Irace DiBartolomeo.

Vera was a teacher’s aide for the Kennett Consolidated School District, retiring in 2010 after 33 years of service. She had worked at the New Garden, Mary D. Lang and Bancroft schools.

She attended St. Patrick Church and the Toughkenamon Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed the beach, crabbing, going to old car shows, crafts, cooking and being with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, James P. Taylor, Jr. and his girlfriend, Kelly Torello of Avondale, PA; one daughter, Lisa R. Taylor of Avondale, PA; one brother, Louis F. DiBartolomeo , Jr. of Avondale, PA; three sisters, Anna D. Cline of Kennett Square, PA, Denise F. Miller of Lincoln University, PA and Maria D. Hamilton of Kennett Square, PA; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Dolores A. DiBartolomeo and Nancy L. Taylor.

You are invited to visit with her family and friends from 6:00 to 9:00 on Thursday evening, September 8, 2016, and again from 9:30 to 11:00 on Friday morning, September 9, 2016, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00. Burial will be the Longwood Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the “Kennett After-School Association”, After-The-Bell, P. O. Box 1068, Kennett Square, PA, 19348. Please make checks payable to the Kennett After-School Association.

  4. I was so sorry to hear of Vera’s passing. I knew Vera for many years. We worked together at Mary D. Lang and she was always happy and smiling. She was so kind to the children and the staff. I always enjoyed chatting with Vera. She had a wonderful way of connecting with people. I will miss her very much. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time.

  8. So sorry for your loss. Vera was a friend of my sister’s, Brenda Sharpe, who pass away in 2009. Vera was so sweet to keep in touch with me after Brenda’s death. I always looked forward to her Christmas card. She is now at rest and no more pain.
