Mary Dougherty Twaddell, age 88 of West Grove, PA, died Tuesday September 20, 2016 at the Ware Presbyterian Village, Oxford, PA. She was the wife of Raymond Twaddell, with whom she shared 36 years of marriage.

Born in Kingston, PA, she was a daughter of the late James C. and the late Grace E. (Gallagher) Dougherty.

Mary was a longtime member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church where she participated in many prayer groups. For many years she was manager of Walden Books at Granite Run Mall. Most of all, Mary enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include in addition to her husband, one son, Timothy Leonard (Michele) of St .Johns FL; one daughter, Judy Cunha of Newark DE; two stepsons, Raymond Twaddell (Ruth) and Jerry Twaddell (Mary) both of Newark DE; one stepdaughter, Sharon Walraven (Harry) of Chester County, PA; one sister, Patricia Bruggeman of Glen Mills, PA; fourteen grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one son, James R. Leonard.

You are invited to visit with Mary’s family and friends from 9:30-10:30AM Friday September 23, 2016 at Assumption BVM Catholic Church 300 State Rd. West Grove, PA 19390. Her mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11AM. Interment will be in St. Mary’s cemetery West Grove. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Church at the aforementioned address.   1. As those managers and employers who were mentors and also like second parents leave us [the former staff of Waldenbooks #668] I hope we can pass on what we were taught.

    I am sorry I was not able to get down to West Grove this morning. My thoughts are with the family and friends of Mary Leonard Twaddell.
