James Gary Combs

James “Gary” Combs, age 68 of Kennett Square, PA, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. He was the husband of Marcia L. (Paisley) Combs, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage.

Gary was born in Mountain City, TN and was the son of the late Paul and Ella (Babe) Combs.

Gary graduated from Avon Grove High School in 1970 and worked for Hewlett Packard (Agilent) for many years.

He was the lead singer of the family band called, “The Silver Dollar Band” in the 80’s and enjoyed being a DJ and Country line dance instructor in the 90’s.

In addition to his wife, Marcia, Gary is survived by his 2 children, Brian and Jenny Combs of West Grove, PA; 2 Stepchildren, Heather Ortega (Junior) of Oxford, PA and Christopher Banks (Katie) of Jackson, GA; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, that affectionately called him “Da-Dad”; his brother, Bob Combs (Gayle) of Oxford, PA; as well as 2 sisters, Mary Combs of West Grove, PA and Jane Combs of Strasburg, PA.

Gary was predeceased by one brother, Paul Combs, Jr.

Services for Gary will be private.

  11. I have not seen my cousin since we were children, but, at least, I did talk through facebook. Enjoyed his humor and thoughts. I know he is with Dad and Mom (my favorite aunt on dad’s side) singing and dancing with them. Miss you.
