Peter Kurt Schwarz, Sr.

October 10, 1968 - July 12, 2020 Kennett Square, PA | Age 51

Peter Kurt Schwarz, Sr., age 51 of Kennett Square, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2020 at his home. He was the amazing, loving husband of Christine (Buckland) Schwarz. They shared 23 years of marriage and three awesome children: Peter Jr., Emma and Margo. With Pete it was always family first. He adored his family and was truly the greatest role model for his children with his tremendous work ethic and his ability to give excellent advice. He was caring, generous and smart. Pete was born on October 10, 1968 in Lansdale, PA. He was the son of Kurt W. Schwarz and the late Lore (Ruof) Schwarz. Pete is survived by his brother Steven and wife Lynne, and his in-laws Betty and George Buckland. In addition, he will be greatly missed by his nephews, niece and many loving friends and family members. Pete will also be missed by the newest member of the Schwarz family, his dog, Oakley.

Pete was a graduate of North Penn High School where he was a standout soccer player. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Drexel University and was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. He continued on to achieve his MBA from West Chester University. Pete’s career work was in energy management. He began his career with Praxair which took him on an adventure to living in Kansas for over two years. Happy to be returning home to the east coast he began a successful 17-year career at Sunoco in many roles, finishing as a Senior Natural Gas and Electricity Trader. Following Sunoco, Pete worked for Philadelphia Energy Solutions as a Senior Trader. Most recently he was thriving at his position as Business Development Manager at Centennial Energy. Pete had an easy way of communicating with colleagues and made genuine connections. He was highly skilled at building relationships and finding strategic solutions.

In his free time Pete loved being with his family and playing soccer. He also enjoyed fishing, coaching, golf and watching his children play sports. He loved being outdoors and going to the beach where he could be found riding waves with his family. He was the best cook and was always a warm host. Pete was a master at installing or repairing almost everything. He was a creative thinker and a problem solver around the house. If he had questions he would research and figure it out. Pete’s greatest joy was found just playing in the backyard with his children, kicking the soccer ball around or having a catch. He was the best planner and always had great vacation ideas. He loved showing his children different destinations around the United States and Europe. He was the best Daddy.

The Memorial Service will be live streamed on the St. Cornelius Church website on Saturday, July 18 @ 11am ( The in-person service is restricted due to COVID-19 protocol, so please join us virtually.

  5. Hello, my name is Chris Freer and I am a friend and classmate of Pete. Please accept my condolences, I know how hard it is to lose a family member. Be strong for each other. It’s always more difficult when that person is so awesome, like Pete. We met in 8th grade and have been friends since. I last saw Pete out with a group of classmates from North Penn class of 1986. He was smart, very funny, and a genuinely great guy. I’m going to pray for all of you and honor him with recalling good times we had.

Peace to all of you. Isaiah 41:10

  22. Dear Schwarz Family,
I‘m terribly sorry about your loss. I conducted business with Pete for several years and we had a great business relationship during that time; however, the best part about Pete was our relationship outside of business. Pete and I always enjoyed catching up over the phone, or having a few beers (sometimes too many) when I was in Philadelphia or when were attending some industry convention. We had more fun cutting up and talking about our shared interests than any business we ever did together.

To Big Pete – Thanks for the laughs, the fun, all the beer we drank and stories we shared at Brü Kraft in downtown Philly. Thanks for attending the Furries dance off competition at the Atlanta Marriott during the NPGA Convention, where we were the only ones dressed in sports coats and slacks while everyone else was dressed in funny looking furry outfits. Thank you for just being a good guy. I’ll miss you.

To Pete’s family – Condolences and my prayers go out to you, you lost a great husband and father. Pete was an excellent man.

    Godspeed, Pete.

  23. A note of condolence to Christine, your children, Mr. Schwartz (big Kurt), brother Steve, and of course, all extended family. I grew up with Pete, we lived in same neighborhood, went to the same elementary school, and he was my best friend for quite some time. Luckily, we finally got to see each other more frequently over the past several years, and for that I am forever grateful. He was a special person, both as a childhood friend and adult – easy to talk to, easy to laugh and have fun, caring, and both kind and true. For these reasons, I certainly regret that we weren’t able to to see more of each other as now wiser adults, husbands and fathers. I had hoped to express my condolences in person but unfortunately that won’t happen in 2020. As no surprise to you, I will always remember with love my athletic, soccer playing, German friend – a consistent, loving soul who helped me become a better version of myself. I hope that knowing he was loved and respected by so many people, many whom you never met, will in some way help you and family through your grief and loss. Rest In Peace, Pete, I’ll love you forever, fellow Knight and brother❤️

  31. I was deeply saddened to hear the news about Pete. Pete and I were fraternity brothers and roommates at Drexel Theta Chi. I did not see Pete too much these last few years other than an occasional reunion or golf outing. When I was lucky enough to see him it was always uplifting to be around him and just pick up where ever we left off, as old friends do. Pete was a rare breed, a great athlete and a good spirit with a good sense of humor who welcomed everyone for who they were. I which the Schwarz family the best during these tough times. He will be missed by me and all his Theta Chi friends.
