  1. Hello, I am Bonnie from Seaford, Delaware. I just wanted to convey my condolences to Joe’s family. I met him a few weeks ago when he was at my home to do a proposal for Anthony & Sylvan pools. I was totally shocked to learn of his passing. Even the short time I met with Joe and discussed my pool / plans for it with him, I could tell he was a delightful person, knowledgeable, and had respect for me, the customer. I am so sorry for your loss.

  5. I ran into Joe a few days back after not seeing him for years.I was a senior at Sallies when he was a freshman – we rode the Dart bus from North Wilmington.

Even then Joe had a wonderful manner about himself.

When we last spoke we shared how we both benefited greatly from Jack Collins a beloved former teacher at St. Mary Magdalene.

I was shocked and very sad to read of Joe’s passing.

People like Joe are in short supply – he will be missed greatly …. Certainly by his family and close friends. But even those who were lucky enough to have crossed over the years.A true gentleman.

I will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. Dear Houghton Family, We are so saddened by this news about Joe. Joe was so kind and I think the younger kids in the neighborhood looked up to him. He always stopped to talk to me and always with a happy disposition. We will remember Joe as one of the good people on this earth. Our hearts are with you all.

  8. Joe – I used to tease you and tell you that you just might have made it at St. James. Truth be told, you would have been an outstanding brother Bulldog. Your friendship enhanced my life and the lives of my family…..who all loved you dearly. I will miss you, but thinking of you will always bring a smile to my face. Peace to you Brother!

  13. Such a tragic loss to one of the very good people on earth. I have known Joe for many years as we worked together at A&S Pools. We communicated often over the years even after my retirement. Joe always had a smile on his face and lit up any room he entered. He loved golf and soccer was a passion. We often teased each other about soccer and always got a hearty laugh as we would discuss a game I had no interest in. These were special moments between us that I will never forget. Sue and I pass on our sincere condolences to Angie, Stella and the entire family. He will be sorely missed.

  17. Angie and Stella, you certainly know how much Joe meant to me. Joe was by far one of the kindest most generous people I know. Having Joe as a friend was truly an honor. I will miss cutting his hair. Not only did I get to see him every month but just getting to hear him and Neil cut each other up was the best. His sense of humor was priceless. He often told me Stella you have his humor. What a gift. Rest Peaceful. I will greatly miss you ❤️

  20. One of the finest people I’ve ever met. It was an honor to be in a world with Joe. His quick wit, charm and fun loving approach to life made your every interaction with him a happy one. He cared… and he made you care. Somewhere out there he is still grinning… and I can’t help but grin back as I remember him now as fondly as I always will. Rest In Peace my friend. We will miss you greatly.
