George L. Morrissiey

October 22, 2021 West Grove, PA Had an Infectious Laugh that would Fill the Room

George L. Morrissiey, age 73 of West Grove, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 22, 2021.

He was the husband of Jane Needham Morrissiey, with whom he shared a wonderful 23 years of marriage.

Born on October 20, 1948 in West Chester, PA, George was the son of the late George R. Morrissiey and the late Mary Maynes Morrissiey.

George was a graduate of Kennett High School, class of 1966. Following his high school graduation, George followed his father into the mushroom industry until he moved to Florida where he worked to build the infrastructure that would later become Disney World.

While in Florida, George found a passion for bodybuilding where he won numerous competitions up and down the east coast. George also loved organizing Bodybuilding competitions as well as car shows. George liked old cars and hotrods and enjoyed driving his classics in parades and participating in car shows.

In 1996, George moved back to Pennsylvania and found his calling as a Pennsylvania State Constable. George enjoyed his job and meeting all kinds of interesting people.

George and Jane owned the Corner Café in Jennersville from 2008 to 2019 where you would find him enjoying a cup of coffee and good conversation.

George had a great sense of humor and always had a joke (good or bad) or story to tell. He had an infectious laugh that would fill the room.

In addition to his wife, Jane, George is survived by his children, Flavio Morrissiey (Babs) of Orlando, FL, Wendy Jean Eddinger (Scott) of Micco, FL, Joshua Morrissiey (Yvonne) of Smyrna, DE and Georgia Jane Morrissiey of West Grove, PA; grandchildren, Dakota, Devin, Peyton, Joey, Kendra, Maximus, Damien, Adeline and Maggie; as well as one great grandchild who is on the way.

  2. I had just searched for you on the internet George, only to find myself typing this to you, and at the same time I feel such a void in my heart knowing I cannot speak with you in person…at least not now anyway. I left some messages for you over the past several years but could never get in touch…and now THIS!!! I had the privilege to know you and call you my DEAR FRIEND, even for a short time when you were in Sebastian. I will treasure the memory of having competed in your last bodybuilding production in November 2, 1996 and the Jamie Hart Award you presented to me for winning…I felt sad when you were leaving Florida as you stayed at my house a few days before heading to your Mom´s in PA where you would meet your future wife Janey, but not sad like I feel right now. I could go on, but won´t, but I just felt the need to type this to you knowing that you are reading it from Eternity with Father God…I will keep Janey and Georgia Jane in my prayers and look forward to reconnecting with you again in the distant future and when I do, I will be asking you for another ¨Slim Jim!!! Oh yeah Brother!!!¨ I love ya Bro…and I miss you, and of all days to find out about you, being November 1 (All Saints Day in the Roman Catholic Church)…

  20. Jane, Russ and I send our sympathy to you and your family, I know these last couple of months have been dreadful. I’ve know George since our teenage years and he has always had a grin on his face and a devilish twinkle in his eyes! The two of you made such a difference in our little Community and offered cheer as well as hospitality in your cozy little corner in Jennersville. I hope your memories comfort you.
