Elaine C. Sheets

September 10, 1954 - September 10, 2023 Age 69

Elaine C. Sheets of Oxford PA, passed away in the presence of loved ones, on September 10, 2023 at her home in Oxford PA after a battle with colon cancer. Born in Wilmington Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Harold Joseph Groff and Lillian Haney Groff.

Elaine was a loving mother to her two surviving sons Paul D. Sheets, Brinton J. Sheets and to her daughter, Stacie Sheets, who went home to be with Jesus Christ in January of 2001. She is also survived by her sister Anna E. Keene of Lincoln University PA and her daughter through marriage, Frankmena G. Sheets of Oxford PA.

Elaine dedicated her life to Jesus Christ, family, and to making a living through hard work. She delivered the Daily Local News for 31 years, along with other publications. She delivered papers 365 days a year, no matter the weather, with very little time off. In fact, she had no more than 4 weeks off from work over her entire 31 years delivering newspapers. Her last day on her paper route was August 26, 2023, which was the same day she went into the hospital. Elaine loved animals very much, especially her dog Bear, who is now helping to carry on her memory for her family. Elaine was adamant about pointing out, and rejecting the evil in this world. Despite her many sufferings throughout her life, she rejoiced in her faith, and never deterred from Jesus Christ.

Family and Friends are invited to be apart of Elaine’s life celebration at Christ Church at the Grove, 1772 New London Rd, Landenberg PA, 19350. The viewing begins at 9:00 AM on Saturday, September 23, 2023 followed by a service starting at 10:00 AM and a repast that will take place around 12:00 PM.

  1. Very sorry hearing about Elaine passing. Many an early morning we be waiting for the papers to be drop off in West Grove. She have a hot line numbers and would say truck is on the way. Off she go delivery some other paper. Her car was full all the time. Smart lady she had her delivery for 3 if not 4 other papers crossing over each others route. It’s been a long time since our pass cross but she was a nice person. Be at peace knowing today she is in heaven delivering papers to the angels. RIP Elaine .

  3. We have such fond memories of all of you from our early years growing up together in West Grove. Elaine exemplified what it meant to be hardworking, dedicated and caring. We know she is resting peacefully now in God’s embrace and that her memory will live on through those that loved her. Praying for all of you during this time of grief and healing. Love, The Mullen Family

  4. Dear Elaine , you left us too soon always remember our little birthday parties blowing out our candles and taking pictures and making fun of which one of us looked more like a blowfish. I will also miss seeing the daily local news laying in the driveway every now and then when you would drive by we all love you dearly.
