Jo Barbara Manley

September 14, 2023 Cochranville, PA Devoted and Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Jo Barbara Manley, our loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on September 14, 2023. She was in her 74th year.

Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, she graduated from Notre Dame Catholic Girls High School and went on to attend Crozier-Chester Medical Center School of Medical Technology. She worked as a laboratory technician at Crozier Chester Medical Center until her marriage. A resident of Cochranville, Pennsylvania since 1974, what brought Jo the most joy was being a loving wife and mother.

Jo married her beloved husband, John in 1969 with whom she enjoyed 54 years of marriage. She became the proud mother of Melissa (Brian), Kristin, Joseph (Krista) and Timothy (Bootsy) and cherished her role as “Mom-Mom” to eight grandchildren Kelsey, Tyler, Garrett, Brody, Carrington, Benjamin, Callie and Graycen.

She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Helen Kowalchuk, brother Donald Malik, and son-in-law Robert Colon.

Jo lived a full life as a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker. Her faith as a Roman Catholic was paramount to her existence and often uttered the phrase, “what’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong”. She kept an immaculate house, never failed to attend all of her children’s activities (Mom’s Taxi), enjoyed playing bingo and beat us all at Jeopardy.

Most of all she loved her family and instilled her strong values in her children that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren, she is survived by her sister Helen Jones; brother Robert Malik; sister-in-law Michelle Bristow and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass and celebration of Jo’s life will be held at Assumption BVM Catholic Church, 300 State Road, West Grove, Pennsylvania on Thursday, September 21, 2023 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will take place immediately prior from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private.

  3. My heart and prayers go out to John, Melissa, Kristin, Joe, and Tim and all of my friend, Jody’s, grandchildren and extended family.
Jody would laugh and comment that her nickname is longer than her real name. Living in the same neighborhood for many years, the Manleys and Miseros were friends, kids of similar age, did things together. I’m grateful to God for our friendship!! I can believe that when
Jesus and Jody met, HE said, “Well done, good and faithful servant!!” Love and prayers to all!!
