Bruce Govan, 75, of West Chester, PA, passed away on February 23, 2026.
Bruce had many passions and a true entrepreneurial spirit. Throughout his life, he enjoyed surfing, fishing, skiing, golfing, and playing instruments such as the dulcimer and mandolin. He was an active member of various organizations and clubs, which provided him with many opportunities to socialize and form lasting connections with wonderful people.
In the last two decades of his career, Bruce worked as a real estate photographer and owned a furniture restoration business, Govan Antique Cane Restoration. Through his skilled craftsmanship, he brought furniture—especially chairs—back to life while preserving their original charm.
Bruce’s greatest passion was undoubtedly boating and spending time on the open waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Weekends were often spent in Maryland with his wife on their boat, Long Reach, whether it was docked in its slip or lifted out of the water for maintenance and care.
Bruce will be remembered for his character, his resilience, and the way he showed up for the people he loved. Whether in simple, everyday moments or through lifelong commitments, he made a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, four grandchildren, two sisters and many loving family members and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father.
A service to honor Bruce’s life will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1818 Market Street, Suite 282, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
Bruce will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
