Carol Leontine Andrews Crowe, age 86, of Kennett Square, PA passed peacefully surrounded by her family, particularly her loving husband of 61 years, Greg Crowe.
Born in 1937 in Cleveland, OH, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Helen Andrews.
Carol earned a bachelor’s degree from Wooster College in OH and went on to earn a master’s in education from Cortland University. While teaching at Cornell University, she met and married Greg and then eventually settled in Delaware and Pennsylvania.
She was a talented artist in both oil and watercolors, often painting commissions for loved ones and enjoyed singing and playing music, especially hymns and praise songs along with camp singalongs and showtunes. She used her creativity and leadership skills to lead her children’s scout troops and was often volunteering for charities, schools, and her kid’s sports clubs.
Her faith in Jesus, which began at an early age, sustained her and allowed her to thrive throughout her life. Her passion for the Lord showed in how she cared for people around her, regardless of who they were. She was a shining example of kindness and compassion to others. Carol was a long-time member of Kennett Square Presbyterian Church and loved meeting with her bible study groups in PA and in FL to support and learn from her friends in communion with God.
Carol and her family loved to travel the world and learn about other cultures. Her travels took her all over Europe, South America, New Zealand, Australia, Scandinavia, Russia, Canada, China, Africa, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, and throughout the United States. Her favorite places to visit were her old stomping grounds at Walloon Lake, Michigan where she spent her childhood summers and with the family in Bethany Beach, Delaware.
She is survived by her husband Gregory Crowe, daughter Dawn Crowe, and grandchildren Zenia, Julia, Tyler, and Harmon. Carol was preceded in death by her son Gregory, brothers Johnny and Jamie Andrews and sisters Vangie Hennigan and Elaine Smith.
You are invited to celebrate Carol’s life with her family and friends at Kennett Square Presbyterian Church, 211 South Broad Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348 on Friday, August 9 at 11 am.
