Carol Rosemary (Spicer) Perron, age 92, of Kennett Square, PA, passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 26, 2025, in Exton, PA.
She was born on March 31, 1933, in Washington, D.C., to Florence G. Garrison and Frank A. Spicer. Carol enjoyed a charmed childhood in Bethesda, MD, with her beloved older brother, Robert Spicer. Their summers were filled with sailing, swimming, and socializing at the family cottage in Deal, MD. Carol attended Immaculata High School and The Sisters of Providence Junior College in Washington, D.C.
In 1955, she married the love of her life, Edward R. Perron. They met on a blind date while attending a football game at the United States Naval Academy, where Ed was a midshipman. Carol was an exemplary military wife, supporting Ed through a dynamic 28-year Marine Corps career. She moved many times throughout the United States while raising their four children and managed the household alone during Ed’s two long tours in Vietnam and Japan. After Edward’s retirement from the Marine Corps, the family relocated from the hectic Washington, D.C., area to a bucolic farm in central Massachusetts. There, they embraced a new lifestyle as stewards of a historic colonial-era farmhouse. Carol and Edward operated a blueberry and raspberry orchard, ran a bed and breakfast named Deer Meadow Farm, and hosted family and friends for many special events. She especially enjoyed her winters on Cape Cod and in Tequesta, FL. Carol was the consummate hostess. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, painting, writing poetry, needlework, and corresponding with family and friends. She never missed an opportunity to send a card to those she loved. Carol’s faith and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary provided her with strength, guidance and comfort through life’s challenging moments. Her grace, wisdom, and presence will be deeply missed and cherished forever.
Carol is survived by her sons, Francis (Hui Jing, Jennifer) of Wellesley, MA, and Thomas (Ruska) of Miami, FL; her daughters, Constance (Shannon) of North Port, FL, and Michelle (Robert) of
West Chester, PA; and 13 grandchildren: Evamarie, Jackie, Robert, Amelie, Temo, Jared, Clayton, Corinna, Spencer, Patrick, Jennifer, Amanda, and Michael. She is also survived by one beloved great-granddaughter, Syrah. Carol deeply cherished her family, finding joy in being part of their lives, activities and accomplishments. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 2011, and her brother, Dr. Robert Spicer.
A funeral and interment service will be held at the United States Naval Academy Columbarium at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Brandywine Assisted Living at Longwood in Kennett Square, PA, for their care and support during Carol’s final years
Arrangements by Kuzo Funeral Home of Kennett Square, PA.
