Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Great-Aunt

Caroline R. Paterniani Cleaver, age 91 of Wilmington, DE and formerly of Kennett Square, PA, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 21, 2018. She was the wife of the late Alden Burke Cleaver, Sr., with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Paterniani and the late Caroline Marturano Paterniani of Wayside Terrace Farms.

Caroline was a loving wife, mother and an amazing homemaker. Caroline attended St. Patrick Catholic Grade School in Kennett Square, PA until eighth grade and was a graduate of Kennett High School Class of 1946.

She was also a member of the Italian American Club and the Sons of Italy, both in Kennett Square, PA.

In her younger years, Caroline spent much of her time roller skating at Merryland Roller Rink and was a competitive skater. Caroline also knew her way around the kitchen and all those who knew her would tell you she was a fantastic cook.

Carolines family would like to thank the A Wing staff at Regal Heights Healthcare for the excellent care that was given to her during her time there.

She is survived by her sons, Alden B. Cleaver, Jr. (Judy) and Andrew B. Cleaver (Jessica); her grandchildren, Andrea and Andrew B. Cleaver, Nathan Hall, Elizabeth Hall-Jackson (Mike); her great-granddaughter, Ava Hall; her sister, Eleanor M. Webb; her sister in law, Joy Cleaver; along with many nieces and nephews as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.

Caroline is predeceased by her siblings, Rose, Gaeteno, Felice, Andrew Jr., and Michael.

You are invited to visit with Carolines family on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:30AM at Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00AM at St. Patrick Church, 212 Meredith St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery.
