Carolyn Jane Crossan of Landenberg, Pa. peacefully passed away on June 29, 2024. A caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Carolyn was born on Nov. 11, 1942, to R. Lytle and Marea Alexander, in Upper Darby Township, Pa.
After graduating from Sanford School in Hockessin, Del., Carolyn studied nursing at Temple University in Philadelphia. She had a longtime career in accounting as a controller and office manager in various businesses. Family was important to Carolyn, and she shared a loving partnership with her husband, Raymond Crossan, Jr. for 60 years and was blessed with four children, 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Throughout the years, Carolyn supported the numerous interests of her children, was active in the church and served on the Kennett Consolidated School District school board.
Carolyn’s creativity blossomed through her love of sewing and entertaining family and friends. She was often working on one of her beautifully embroidered tablecloths or preparing a delicious meal for a holiday.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, R. Lytle Alexander; daughter, Constance Crossan; father in-law, Raymond Crossan, Sr.; mother, Marea Adelaide Alexander; and mother in-law, Grace Crossan.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Raymond; children, Stephanie Brown (Robert), Melanie Ryder (Allan) and Ray Crossan (Maria); sister in-law, Patricia Martin; two sisters, Marea Edynak and Barbara Denley; 10 grandchildren, Victoria, Alexander (Lauren), Zoe, Pete (Sarah), Jack, William, Danny, Ian, Jamie and Luke; and one great grandchild, Cole.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11 from 10-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at West Grove Presbyterian Church, 139 Evergreen St., West Grove, Pa. Interment follows the funeral service at New London Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 1986 Newark Road, New London, Pa.
