Carolyn W. Wonderly

Carolyn Elizabeth Wisswaesser Wonderly died July 1, having reached the age of 90 years. The daughter of Christine (Graham) and Paul Telford Wisswaesser, she was born and raised in Vineland New Jersey. She graduated from Vineland High School in 1953 and then attended Goldey Beacom Business School in Wilmington, DE.

During a seven-year employment with E. I. du Pont De Nemours and Company she met and married her partner of 67 years, sharing their lives together with homes in Glen Mills, Chadds Ford and Kennett Square in Chester County. Their son, Louis Russell Junior, a resident of Ebenshaben, Germany, is married to Maria Elisabeth Putz.

An early gift of painting is manifested in a large portfolio of portraits, still life and landscapes which adorn homes of friends and family. An ardent love for the church, Carolyn served in many capacities at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Unionville, from Church Council Member to Sunday School Teacher, but most notably in handcrafting Christmas tree Cristmans ornaments, and lastly, the National Garment Association, an international origination providing new clothing for the less fortunate of our community. The most secular interest in her retirement was as a volunteer with the Childlife Division of Nemours Hospital in Wilmington where she enjoyed creating artistic works commemorating birthdays, holidays and other happy occasions with the children patients and resident staff of the hospital.

In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by many nieces, and nephews. Gifts in her memory may be made to St. Michael Church in Unionville and to the Carolyn and Louis Wonderly Scholarship fund at Pennsylvania State University.

A visitation will be held on Saturday July 11th at the St. Michael Lutheran Church, 109 E Doe Run Rd, Unionville, PA 19375 followed by a memorial service.  Interment at Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown, PA, 201 W Uwchlan Ave, Downingtown, PA 19335 following the service.
