Clair L. Myers passed away at his home in Kennett Square on July 2, 2026 at the age of 81. He was born in Brookville, PA on August 1, 1944. He lived his childhood and teen years in Clarion, PA where he graduated from Clarion HS in 1962. He continued his education at West Virginia University on a football scholarship graduating with a B.S. degree in accounting. He worked for Owens-Illinois Inc. for two years before joining the US Army. Clair served at a NATO headquarters in Izmir, Turkey as an Admin/Personnel Officer, rising to the rank of Captain.
While in Izmir, Clair met a young woman from Arkansas who was teaching at the DOD high School who became his wife in August 1971. After his release from the army, he obtained an M.B.A. degree from the University of Maryland in College Park. Owens-Illinois welcomed him back to the corporate world at their corrugated box plant in Bristol, PA where he eventually became the sales manager. From there Clair moved his family to Sylvania, Ohio to work in the OI corporate headquarters in Toledo. The eventual sale of his division resulted in a move back to PA where he lived in Kennett Square for the last 34 years.
From a young age Clair loved participating in sports—football, baseball, skiing, tennis , golf. Golf became his passion. Every vacation included golf; every nice weekend he was on the course. His other passion was jazz. After retiring, a favorite hangout was Vincent’s in West Chester on a Thursday night. Clair was a member of the Philadelphia Golf Association serving on their Board of Directors for a term and officiating at local area tournaments. His joy was to play golf with his son and grandson or to put on his headphones and lose himself in music.
Clair is predeceased by his parents, DeWitt and Myrna Myers and his brother Dail Myers. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cheryl Henley Myers, his daughter Susan Elizabeth Myers of Union City, NJ, his son Jeffrey Clair Myers (Georgia) of Kennett Square, and his grandson Noah Robert Myers.
A visitation will be held from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at Kuzo Funeral Home, 250 W. State Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348 on Saturday, July 18, 2026, followed by a Celebration of Life.
