Debbie Leo Obituary

Debbie Leo, 72, of West Grove, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday December 4, 2024. She was the wife of John Leo and their love and partnership transcended more than 50 years together.

Within the community of West Grove, Debbie was known for and proud of her grand Christmas display including life-size nutcrackers and festive garland. In the spring she would tend to her large bubblegum pink Petunias. She received many amazing notes that she kept and cherished from local commuters.

Debbie held many different occupations and gathered amazing friends over the years. She had 18+ years at the West Grove knitting mill, she was a part-time wedding photographer, a seamstress at Classic Coverups, worked for a local florist, was a beloved lunch lady at Avon Grove High School, and the list goes on. She took time to coach soccer for her son and attended every one of his baseball games. She continued to be an avid Philly sports fan, the Philadelphia Eagles being her favorite team.

To know Debbie personally was to know creativity, kindness, passion, and resilience. She was the glue for the family and the “hostess with the mostess”, hosting many years of Sunday dinners and Holiday dinners for anyone who wanted to stop by. Her motto was, “all are invited”. Despite her vision, mobility and motor function injuries due to a severe medical event in 2017, she persevered and spent a lot of her time crafting. You may have seen her at local craft shows in the area along with her husband selling “Henrietta Hedgehog” ornaments, inspired by the late Mary Mason.

She wore many titles: Daughter, sister, wife; but nothing made her prouder than earning the title of “grandma” in October 2024. There are so many lives she touched, and she never hesitated to help anyone who needed it.

Debbie is survived by her husband John Leo, her son Jason Leo, her daughter Leslie Leo, granddaughter Hayden Neill, sister Marcia Combs, brother Trinity Shull, and many nieces, nephews and cousins to uphold her memory.

She was preceded in death by her mother Janet Paisley, father Frank Shull, daughter Lauren Leo, and brother Cheyenne Shull.

Her time on this earth was cut short and if there are any stories you’d like to share, her family would be happy to hear them, emails can be sent to [email protected]
