Doris Denest Obituary

Age 93
Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend.

Doris Carozzo Denest, 93, passed away peacefully at her nursing home in West Chester, PA on May 20, 2023 after a sudden illness.

The first born daughter of Edgar Carozzo and Emma Bugliani, Doris was born on May 19, 1930 in Wilmington, Delaware, and grew up in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Doris graduated from Kennett High School in 1948 and married Joseph L. Denest of Wilmington, Delaware in 1951.

From a very young age, Doriss life became one of giving to others unconditionally. As the oldest daughter in her family, Doris adored and often cared for her sisters Marlene, Shirley, and Eddie, who became her three best friends. She cherished every moment with them. As a mother to her four children and grandmother of two, Doris shared her love, wisdom, and boundless support. There was nothing more important to her than family and she gave selflessly.

Doris leaves behind all of us who will keep her in our hearts: her children Michael (Diane) Denest of Newark DE, Linn (Greg MacDonald) Denesti of Moab UT, Lisa (Jeff) Bell of Kennett Square PA, and Mark (Carolyn) Denest of Downingtown PA; grandchildren Molly Stack of Moab UT and Eric (Assela) Sutherland of Aarhus, Denmark; sisters Shirley Tingley of West Grove PA and Eddie Leo of Wilmington DE; and her many nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends old and new.

Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Joseph Denest, infant daughter Debra Ann who passed away at birth in 1959; parents, Edgar Carozzo and Emma Bugliani; sister Marlene (Richard) Giancola; brothers-in-law on the Carozzo side; brothers and sisters-in-law on the Denest side; two nephews; cousins and other family members.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick Church, 212 Meredith St., Kennett Square, PA on Tuesday, May 30. Visitation hour for family and friends begins at St. Patrick Church at 11:00 a.m. with Mass at 12:00 noon. The Rite of Committal and burial will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery, 460 N. Union Street, Kennett Square, PA, immediately following.
