With profound sorrow we announce the passing of Edward Mytych, 75, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of the Lord, who left this world after a courageous three‑year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).
Ed’s final years were not defined by illness, but by strength, perseverance, and quiet resolve. Even as ALS tested his body, it never diminished his spirit. He refused to let the disease silence him, choosing instead to spend thousands of hours advocating for ALS research and funding—working so that others might one day be spared the suffering he endured. His courage was steadfast up until the very end.
A man of exceptional intellect, humor and humility, Ed was a computer expert and lover of math, which allowed others to turn to him instinctively when any problem needed solving. He spent 30 years working at the Boeing company, where his professionalism, work ethic, and brilliance earned him deep respect. Ed was known for his diligence and reliability; he always insisted on completing tasks thoroughly and correctly, even if it occasionally tested the patience of those around him, particularly his wife ;)
Above all, Ed was an exemplary father and a dedicated family man who consistently worked to provide his children with opportunities that had not been available to him in his youth. The love he showed his family, friends, and others was steady and reassuring, shown by acts of compassion and loyalty.
Ed was preceded in death by his devoted father Joseph, a proud WWII combat veteran whose courage inspired Ed throughout his life, his gentle and loving mother Genevieve, whose warmth shaped his character, and his creative brother Robert, whose tenderness and talents brought joy to the family. Their memories remained close to Ed’s heart, and he cherished the lasting influence they had on his journey.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Mary Beth, his three sons—Andrew (Nicole), David (Mandy), and Peter—and his grandchildren, Alex and Olivia. He is also survived by his siblings Tom, Paul, and Debbie. Ed took great pride in his Polish heritage, embracing family traditions, cultural celebrations, and the values passed down through generations.
A visitation will be held from 1pm to 2pm followed by a memorial service celebrating Ed’s life at 2pm on May 9th at Willowdale Chapel – Jennersville Campus, 111 Vineyard Way, West Grove, PA 19390.
Ed will be deeply missed, eternally loved, and forever carried in the hearts of all who knew him. His race on earth is finished; his eternal journey has begun.
