Elizabeth "Betty" M. (McCullough) Bahel

Elizabeth "Betty" M. Bahel, age 92 of Lewes, DE since 1993, and formerly of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026. She was the wife of the late Gilbert L. Bahel of Kennett Square, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage.

Born in Comber, County Down, Northern Ireland, Betty was the daughter of the late Charles and Lillian Todd McCullough of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Mrs Bahel attended the Strand School of Northern Ireland. For 38 years, Mrs. Bahel worked at the DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, DE, retiring in 1993.

Betty enjoyed golfing, and she and her husband held a long time membership with Shawnee Country Club in Mildford, DE, later holding a membership with American Classic Golf Club in Lewes, DE. Mrs. Bahel was also a longtime volunteer librarian with the Lewes Public Library.

Betty is survived by 1 son, Stephen C. Bahel and his wife Dawn Marie of Ercildoun, PA; 2 grandchildren, Brandon J. Bahel and his wife Heather; 2 great granddaughters Tiereny J & Fallon E Bahel of Oxford, PA, and Krista M. Beird and her husband James of Nottingham, PA. Mrs. Bahel was predeceased by 1 brother, Norman, and 1 sister, Rachel, and is survived by 2 brothers, Samuel and Charles, and 1 sister, Margaret.

Per her request, the family will lay Betty to rest in a private ceremony at the Longwood Cemetery on Friday, October 30th, 2026.
