Evelyn D. Bewley

Evelyn D. Bewley, 92, of West Grove, PA, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026.

Born on February 9, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, Evelyn was the beloved daughter of the late James and Emma [Egedy] Demko. Early in her life, her family moved to Wilmington, Delaware, where she graduated from Wilmington High School. She went on to work at the Wilmington Playhouse and served as a secretary for the DuPont Company for six years.

Evelyn had a passion for classic movies, theater, and dancing. It was at the Armory Dance Hall where she met the love of her life, Jess E. Bewley, Sr. The two shared forty-four wonderful years of marriage. In 1974, they moved to West Grove, PA, where they raised their eight children and built a loving home filled with treasured memories before his passing in October 2002. Evelyn was also a faithful member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (ABVM) Parish in West Grove for 52 years.

A devoted homemaker and grandmother, Evelyn cherished time spent with her family. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, specially creating latch-hook rugs—and baking. She loved hosting family picnics and was known for bringing everyone together for Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve celebrations over many years. Evelyn was also active in her community, volunteering for numerous school functions and class trips.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jess E. Bewley, Sr.; her brother, James Demko; her daughter, Carolyn B. Trimble; and her granddaughter, Rebecca Bewley.

Evelyn is survived by her loving children: Susan Bewley, Jess E. Bewley, Jr., Thomas Bewley, Margaret (George) Saienni, Elizabeth (Gary) Hopkins, Jeanette (John) Groff, and John (Pam) Bewley. Evelyn was also blessed with 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at ABVM Church, 300 State Rd., West Grove, PA. A funeral service will follow at 10:45 AM. Interment will take place at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff of both Ware Presbyterian & Willow Tree Hospice for their compassionate care.

Evelyn will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
