James McDonaugh Obituary

James Robert McDonaugh, age 87 of Avondale, PA, passed away at his home on Sunday, July 16, 2023.

He was the husband of the late Elizabeth DiFilippo McDonaugh and the two shared nearly 30 years of marriage prior to her passing in 1989.

Born 1936 in West Chester, PA, James was the son of the late John J. and Edythe McDonaugh.

After graduating from Kennett High School, James enlisted in the United States Army.

James first big job was working with the Downingtown Paper Company. He later worked for Chrysler for over 20 years up until retirement.

Hunting and fishing were two of James favorite pastimes. He also loved the Phillies and they were his favorite Philly sports team.

James is survived by his daughter, Joy Lynn Firth (Kenneth); his son, James Joseph McDonaugh; his companion, Billie Jean Massey; two grandchildren, Lauren E. Firth (Adam) and Kyle A. Firth (Lauren); two great grandchildren; Brother Robert Francis McDonaugh; and several nieces and nephews.

You are invited to visit with James family on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 9:00AM to 11:00AM at Chandler Funeral Home, 7230 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin DE 19707. A prayer service will begin at 11:00AM and interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, James family kindly requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
