James Silver Obituary

James Silver, age 69 of Kennett Square, PA, died Friday, March 27, 2026  at his home. He was the husband of Cynthia Silver, with whom he shared nearly 44 years of marriage and 50 years together.

Born 1956 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Alexander James Silver and the late Joan Hamilton Silver.

James graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Rutgers University. This led him to a lifelong career as a chemical engineer for several major companies, including DuPont. He went on to attend Fairleigh Dickinson University where he earned his Master’s in Business Administration. He invented and holds four patents for unique pigment dispersion methods.

James loved to cook, play guitar with the Red River Band, garden, and was an avid beer homebrewer and member of BUZZ Home Brew Club in West Chester, PA. James’ greatest passion was undoubtedly his family. He loved to spend time traveling and exploring new cuisines with Cindy, and playing music for his grandson.

James is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his son, Alex Silver and his wife, Rebecca; his daughter, Caitlin Silver and her husband, Matthew; his son Michael Silver and his wife, Stephanie; as well as his first grandson Henry James Silver, who was named in part after his beloved “Poppy.”
