John “Jack” M. Beeson Sr. passed away peacefully on May 30. He was born December 7, 1936 and grew up in Wilmington, DE on Scott Street with his siblings, Bob, Suzanne and Mary Jane.
Jack attended St. Paul’s elementary and Wilmington High School where he was a two-time Delaware state diving champion and later captain of the West Chester University swim team. He graduated from West Chester University in 1959 where he married the love of his life, Diane. They are reunited now.
Jack earned his Master’s degree from the University of Delaware (1963) and his Doctorate from Penn State University (1974). He was a teacher and college professor. He taught for 7 years at Mount Pleasant and at Cheyney University for over 30 years.
Jack and Diane had two boys, Jack Jr. (Sue) and Mark (Kim). He loved coaching them at the Brandywine Youth Club (especially the 1972 Bears). Jack was very proud of his grandchildren Tyler (Erin), Jackie (Josh), Cali and Luke. In addition, Jack was blessed with three great grandchildren Nora Bee, Rowan and Quinn. He was their Poppy.
Lastly, Jack should be remembered as a caring man of principle. He was thought to be frugal by many, however, they were mistaken as his generosity to those in need was endless. We will miss him for sure but we are so thankful to have learned all the life lessons from Jack Sr. (The Original).
A heartfelt thank you to the tremendous staff at Brandywine at Longwood for making sure Dad was happy and comfortable.
Services will be private to family, however, later this summer the family will host a Celebration of Life for Jack Sr.
Arrangements by Kuzo Funeral Home of Kennett Square, PA.
