Lillian Robins Obituary

Lillian Ruth Robins, age 100, of Landenberg, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, in Collingswood, NJ.

Born June 17th, 1925 in West Jefferson, NC, she was the daughter of the late James Herchell Paisley and Jessie Williams Paisley. Lillian remained deeply connected to her hometown of Landenberg throughout her life and took great pride in maintaining her beloved farmhouse, a place filled with family, tradition, and lasting memories.

Lillian dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked as a nurse at Chester County Hospital and, even into her late 80s, continued serving her community as a short-order cook at Bunny’s Diner in Avondale, PA, as well as a lead cook at Delaware Park and Hostetter’s Market in Lancaster, PA. She was also widely known and loved as the “hot dog lady” at the Giant Supermarket in Kennett Square, where her warmth, humor, and unmistakable spirit made her a familiar and cherished presence.

Affectionately known as “Mom Mom” to her grandchildren and “Sister” to family and friends, Lillian was adored for her kind and gregarious nature, her love of life, and her remarkable strength and energy. She found great joy in bluegrass music—especially in the music of her family members, Robert and Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass—and loved traveling, particularly to Lancaster County, the Jersey and Delaware shores, and on family trips to Florida. She treasured attending and helping lead family gatherings and many Paisley family reunions.

Above all, Lillian cherished time with her immediate family. She loved attending concerts and sporting events, celebrating holidays, cooking delicious Southern meals, and serving as a constant, loving, and protective presence as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her son, G. Michael McBride; her brothers, Donald Hale Paisley, James Robert Paisley, Joseph O’Brien Paisley, Vernon Brice Paisley, and Raymond Edward Paisley; and her sisters, Faye Marie Paisley and Margaret Louise Hopkins.

Lillian is survived by her grandchildren, Jason Michael McBride and his wife Ryan McBride, and their children, Wyeth, Channing, and Talbot McBride; and Nicholas Ryan McBride and his husband Bradley Johnson, and their daughter, Claire Lillian Johnson-McBride.

Lillian will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her deep love of people, and the fierce strength that shaped her 100 years. She lived fully, loved deeply, and brought light, laughter, and life to every room she entered. Her beautiful spirit endures in the family and memories she leaves behind.
