Lola Bowers Obituary

After a lengthy illness, Lola Anna Bowers (Nana) of Avondale, Pennsylvania passed away May 26th, 2024, at the Currituck Health and Rehab Center in Barco, North Carolina. She was the wife of the late James Keifer Bowers and Bill Jones. Born October 22,1927 in Avondale, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Carl Crampton Sr. and Julia Crampton.

Lola was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, relative, friend and caregiver, whose selflessness knew no bounds. Her unconditional love touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Throughout her life, Lola embraced her role as a caregiver with unwavering dedication and love. She was the heart and soul of her family, providing comfort, guidance, and unconditional support to each generation and cherished her family more than anything else.

Her dedication extended beyond her family to her professional life. Lola was a dedicated employee of Hewlett-Packard. There, she found purpose and fulfillment. She was a valued member of the team, known for her integrity, work ethic, and willingness to go beyond to achieve excellence. After years of dedicated service, she retired from Hewlett-Packard at the age of sixty-two.

After retiring, she continued a career of caring by helping any of her family members in need. She eventually moved to Waldorf, Maryland to assist with caring for her great-granddaughters. She often said it was the most fun she ever had. Lola then moved with her daughter to Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

Lola enjoyed cooking, walking, puzzles, long rides in the country and spending time with her family, and friends. Her life was a testament to the profound impact that one person can have on the lives of others through acts of kindness and selflessness.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings. Surviving to cherish her memory are children, Carletta Waddler and James Bowers Jr.; grandchildren, Juan (Marissa) Rivero and Niki (Rashan) Rivero- Allen, Vincent Bowers, Jerome Bowers, Phillip Bowers and Marcus Bowers; great- grandchildren, Cierra Owens, Devin Owens, Mariah Rivero and Gabrielle Rivero; great- great - grandchildren, Triston Owens, Reece Kennedy; sister Louise Lewis and a host of family and friends.

Lola will be remembered as a loving, giving, wise and warm person. She will be sorely missed.
