Louise Stephenson Roberts, age 93 of Glencoe, KY, died Thursday November 26, 2015 while visiting family in Kennett Square, PA. She was the wife of the late John T. Roberts who died in 2001 and with whom she shared 61 years of marriage.
Born in Glencoe, KY, she was a daughter of the late I.E. Stephenson, a Christian minister and the late Bertha Wallick Stephenson. She was the third youngest of seven children and the last living sibling.
Louise was devoted to her family and to God. As a role model to the Glencoe Baptist Church, she continued to serve as Sunday school teacher, Bible teacher, church pianist and church treasurer. She was also active in the WMU, where she served as secretary for 25 years. For the past 21 years she has organized and conducted the monthly hymn sing at the Warsaw Nursing Home.
John and Louise were among the three families who were founders of the Glencoe Fire Dept. They were twice honored as Grand Marshall in the Glencoe parade. She retired in 1994 after working 35 years with the local utility company in the Warsaw office.
Survivors include one son, Monty Roberts and his wife Ruby of Warsaw KY; one daughter Mary Ann Steele and her husband Joe of Ft Mitchell KY; and four grandchildren, Johnathon Roberts, Matthew Sipple and his wife Emily, Jessica Steele and Michelle Steele. There are many nieces and nephews on both the Roberts and Stephenson sides of the family.
You are invited to visit with Louises family and friends from 5-8PM Friday, December 4th 2015 at the Garnett-New-McDonald Funeral Home 108 W Main St, Warsaw, KY 41095. The funeral service will be held at 10AM Saturday, December 5th at the Glencoe Baptist Church, 110 W Howard Street, Glencoe, KY 41046. Interment will follow at the Glencoe Cemetery, Glencoe.
