Matthew Eugene Carroll, age 69 of Kennett Square, PA, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at his home. He was the husband of Lee Mei Miao Carroll, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage.
Born in 1957 in Darby, PA, Matt was the son of the late John Carroll and the late Eileen Gallagher Carroll.
Following his graduation from Interboro High School, Matt attended the University of Pittsburgh where he earned his bachelor’s degree and played on Pitt’s football National Championship Team in 1976.
College was also where Matt met the love of his life, Lee Mei. Their simple introduction at a college event lead to 50 years of happiness together. Matt and Lee Mei had the privilege to travel to many great destinations throughout his lifetime.
Matt worked in the airline industry throughout his entire career. He most recently worked in the Supervisory Tower for American Airlines at the Philadelphia International Airport.
Matt was easy-going and laid back. He was lovingly supportive of his family and always his wife’s biggest cheerleader. Matt enjoyed living every bit of life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
In addition to his wife, Lee Mei, Matt is survived by his sons, Matthew (Christine) Carroll and Gregory Carroll; siblings, Jack (Jude) Carroll, Eileen (Harvey) Welker, and Kip (Jack) O’Hara; a granddaughter, Blair Carroll; as well as many nieces and nephews and their children.
Services for Matt will be private.
