Donald Earl Hanway, Jr. age 79 of Unionville, PA, died Sunday December 6, 2015 after a long illness. He was the husband of Nancy Jordan Hanway, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Donald Earl and the late Eva (Moore) Hanway.
Donald was employed at the DuPont Experimental Station for thirteen years. He then worked as an electrician and Project Manager for Tri- M for thirty-two years before retiring in 2000. He was a longtime member of Bethany Presbyterian Church where he served as Financial Secretary, Elder, Deacon and Trustee.
Don enjoyed many summer vacations at Ocean City, New Jersey with his family. He coached youth soccer and baseball for many years. In his retirement you could always find him at one of his six grandchildrens sporting events rooting them on.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by one son, Scott Hanway and his wife Sharon of New London, PA; two daughters, Lori Hanway of Wilmington DE and Barbara Hanway of Chadds Ford, PA and six grandchildren, Jamie Testa (Gregory), Jodi Hammond (Andrew), Thomas Hammond (Jillian), Paige Hammond, Kaylee Hanway and Zachary Hanway.
He was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Loller.
You are invited to visit with Dons family from 10-11AM Saturday December 19, 2015 at Bethany Presbyterian Church 316 Kennett Pike, Chadds Ford, PA 19317. A memorial service celebrating his life will follow at 11:30 AM. Interment will be held privately at Longwood Cemetery.
