Mrs. Hope Martin Obituary

Age 75
Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother

Hope Wingate Martin was called to be with her beloved Lord and Savior Christ Jesus on Friday November 13, 2015. The daughter of F. Camet Wingate and Hannah Kimble Wingate, Hope was born on October 8, 1940, in West Grove, Pennsylvania. She was a member of Chadds Ford Baptist Church and Chatham Methodist Church. Hope graduated with honors from Avon Grove High School in 1958 and Bloomsburg University in 1962 and was a passionate, devoted high school business education teacher at Mt. Pleasant Senior High School, Wilmington, Delaware; Oakcrest High School, Egg Harbor, New Jersey; Naha Air Base, Japan; and A.I. duPont High School in Wilmington. She also served in positions with duPont at Chestnut Run, Larmore & Scarlett in Kennett Square, and as office manager for HRA Services, Inc., in Chadds Ford, PA.

Hopes hallmarks were her quietness, bright blue eyes, and gentle, radiant smile. She was a much beloved wife, mother and grandmother whose family was her joy and reason for being. Hope loved people and the outdoors, planting garden, flowers, and trees. She eagerly participated in parent and support organizations at Upland Country Day School and Tatnall School and was an avid and regular cheerleader at hockey and lacrosse games and skating events. She is a gentle Christian who loved the Lord and found great friendship and joy in her faith and her brothers and sisters in Christ.

Hope is survived by her husband of fifty-two years David W. Martin, her daughter Jennifer Singer and her husband Rand, her son Jonathan Martin and his wife Rachael, and grandchildren Lain and Teryn Singer and Jonathan Jr. and Alyssa Martin.

Hope leaves the earth and you with these words: Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Fathers house are many mansions: if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
