Patricia A. Brittingham, age 90 of West Grove, PA, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Chester County Hospital.
Born 1936 in West Chester, PA, Patricia was the daughter of the late John Hammond Griffith and the late Bertha Margaret Mann.
Patricia was a lifelong resident of Southern Chester County. She graduated from Kennett High School, class of 1954. She then worked as a Switchboard Operator for Bell Telephone, NVF, and later, Southern Chester County Exchange.
She was a member, and past officer, of the Kennett Square VFW Ladies Auxiliary. You could also find her at the VFW in Kennett working as a bartender.
Patricia enjoyed hunting for special finds at yard sales. She loved to go for rides on her son’s motorcycle. She was a big NASCAR fan and lauded Jimmy Johnson as her favorite driver.
She was a wonderful person to be around and always in a good mood. Patricia’s cheerful personality brought joy to every room she was in. She was gentle and easygoing, but incredibly strong, having survived cancer five times. She was very fond of all her family and friends. Patricia will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Patricia is survived by her longtime companion, Richard Lynch; her sons, Ron Eichelberger, Jr. (Melinda) and Kenny Gent (Shelly); her sister, Mary Alice Melton; four grandchildren, Chris Eichelberger (Jamie), Megan Gent, Tyler Gent, and Jacob Gent; two great grandchildren, Jillian and Madilyn; various nieces and nephews; several stepchildren; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus Brittingham; her son, John Eichelberger; her brother, Robert Griffith; and her sister, Helen Collins.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 5:00PM at the Kennett Square VFW #5467, 704 West Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, PA 19348. Food and refreshments will be provided.
