Patricia Brown Obituary

Patricia Geisler Brown, 96, left this world for more adventures on Monday April 13, 2026, at Jenners Pond, PA.

She was an extraordinary woman.

Born Patricia Leone Hiatt on 22 September 1929 in Iowa. As a young girl she moved with her parents Lyle and Mabel Hiatt to Lewisburg, PA.

As a teenager she studied dance in New York City and performed at a holiday celebration there. Dance continued to be a lifelong passion.

She attended Bucknell University, graduating with a B.S. in chemistry in 1950.  (She met her future husband in her physics class, noticing they were both wearing the same suit.) After graduation she was employed by G&WH Corson as a research chemist.

On September 29,1951, she married George Charles Geisler. She continued to work until the birth of their first child and then became a full-time mother to that child and the four more children that followed. The family moved often with her husband’s work, primarily in PA, however spending as much time as possible at her beloved Bay House on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake.  Here she created a fulfilling life for her family, full of time together outside and quiet moments on the porch swing.  She loved the water, was an avid boater, and famous for her Crab Imperial.

She became very involved as her daughters’ girl scout leader and went on to pursue a master’s degree at Penn State University in Parks and Recreation in 1977.  She was employed by the Chesapeake Bay Girl Scout Council from 1978-82 where she developed an extensive water activity camp. She went on to be hired as the director of Program Services for the Girl Scout Council of Greater New York in1983, creating a large multifaceted camp program, urban outdoor education programs and programs responding to contemporary issues. She became an inspiration for many young women, including her daughters and granddaughters, who were encouraged to create their best possible life, and to trust their abilities.  She was fondly called “Big Gee”. She retired in 1986 to take care of her mother and move to Arkansas with her husband who preceded her in death in 1988.

She moved back to the Bay House and continued to care for her mother until she passed away in 1993. Her next years were spent pursuing her passions: photography, boating, sewing (stich and bitch group) and remodeling her home.

In 1998 she reunited with her friend and high school classmate, Forrest Brown who was also widowed. They married in November of that year and moved to Jenners Pond, PA. There she was active in many clubs including dance, photography, theater, and organizing community events. She won awards for her photos.

With Forrest, she traveled the world visiting numerous countries on 3 continents, as well as tours in the US visiting their children and grandchildren. Forrest preceded her in death on January 4, 2021. She continued to live at Jenners Pond enjoying visits and outings with her children.

She was known for being ready for anything, and for her can-do attitude, her intelligence, her independence, and her kindness.

She was preceded in death by her son Mathew Lyle Geisler, 1993, and granddaughter Emily Mettler, 2020. She is survived by her children Deborah Geisler and husband Abi, Lisa Simpson and husband Earl Mettler, George Geisler and wife Donna Geisler, John Geisler and wife Kim Geisler, and her grandchildren Dani Mettler, Corey Bowman, Kristine Geisler and husband David Thompson, Jamie Geisler, Jesse Geisler and wife Sarah Geisler, Shane Geisler and Dalton Geisler.

There will be a funeral mass celebrating her life at her church, Sacred Heart Church in Oxford, PA, and a graveside memorial/celebration for family at the Lewisburg Cemetery at a later date.
