Peggy Elaine Channell, age 82 of West Grove, PA, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Christiana Hospital. She was the wife of the late Billy C. Channell, with whom she shared nearly 59 years of marriage prior to his passing in May of 2023.
Born 1942 in Mingo, WV, Peggy was the daughter of the late Earl T. Wood and the late Reta Mae Leary.
Peggy graduated from Tygarts Valley High School in West Virginia as the salutatorian of her graduating class.
Following high school, Peggy attended beauty school and earned her beautician’s license. Though Peggy worked as a hairdresser, her natural talents shined as a seamstress. She showcased her skills in various projects like sewing all the bridesmaids’ dresses for her daughter’s wedding and even upholstering a car her husband was restoring.
Peggy loved to travel all throughout her life. From family trips to Disney to an Alaskan cruise with Billy, she loved to see and experience new places. One of her favorite things to do was spend time with her grandchildren and take them places. They got to experience trips to the beach, Longwood Gardens, and they loved blueberry and strawberry picking outings
Peggy was kind and liked to take care of others around her, ensuring that they felt loved when she was around. She was an avid church goer and volunteered many hours at Landenberg United Methodist Church. She sewed many banners that were displayed throughout the years and even sewed pageant costumes.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy L. Hunter and her husband, Paul; four grandchildren, Lauren, Kristin, Megan and Zachary; and three younger brothers, Telford, Harley, and Randy Wood. In addition to her husband, Billy, Peggy was preceded in death by her son, Walter Channell.
Her family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at Twin Pines for the excellent care they provided during her stay there.
