RAYMOND KYLE EMERSON, SR., age 94, passed away Sunday July 13, 2025.
Ray was a wonderful Husband, Dad, Pop Pop, Brother, and Friend. He loved being outdoors, hunting, and fishing with his Son, Grandson, Granddaughter, Great-grandson, Great-granddaughter's & Friends. Ray loved his family and especially enjoyed time away with them at his mountain retreat (usually coinciding with deer and turkey season!). To further illustrate the point of his love of the outdoors and conservation Ray made many trips to the Midwest (Dakota’s & Wisconsin) into his 70’s to upland bird hunt grouse and pheasants with his brothers and nephew. Additionally, he made trips all over the US and Canada to further his love of trout fishing. Active in the community, he was a KAU little league coach for many years. Ray worked for General Motors (Boxwood Road) for 30 years, retiring in 1982. From that point forward he was self-employed through painting, carpentry, and landscaping. He passed his knowledge of trades down to future generations. In addition, he was the groundskeeper of the New Garden Friends Meeting for over 30 years. Ray enjoyed his work and the friends he made along the way. He was also very proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1960 (Active & Inactive Reserve). He had a gentle smile and a kind way about him & would not turn down family or a friend in need.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline B Emerson of whom he shared 68 years of marriage; parents, Bane and Charmie Emerson; siblings, James Emerson, Stella Sheets, Larrie Emerson, Ralph Emerson, Janet Tuell, Bruce Emerson, and Lena Carter.
Ray is survived by his son, Raymond K. Emerson Jr. wife, Mary Ann; sister, Maxine Fiorentino and husband, Frank; grandson, Matthew R. Emerson and wife, Celeste; great grandchildren Thaddeus, Isabelle, and Anastasia; granddaughter Kelly Vattilana and husband, Matt; great grandchildren Emerson and Elizabeth.
The family would also like to extend a special thanks to all of the administrators, nurses, and all support staff at Twin Pines as well as a heartfelt thank you to Brandywine River Valley Hospice.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 11:00AM at Union Hill Cemetery, 424 N. Union Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
