Robert (Bobby) S. Hoosier of Oxford, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
He was born in Yorklyn, DE on September 11, 1935, son of the late Myrtle (Findley) Hoosier and the late William Hoosier.
He was a graduate of Henry C. Conrad High School. He served in the Army National Guard for six years, some at Fort Knox and at Fort Jackson.
Bob worked at NVF Co. in Yorklyn for 15 years before making a career as an insurance agent at Crayton + Pippen Inc. After retirement he became a safety manager for Talley Brothers Inc. He was a parishioner of St. John's in Hockessin, DE, St. John the Beloved in Wilmington, DE, ABVM in West Grove, PA, St. Ann's in Bethany Beach and then Sacred Heart in Oxford, PA. He served as a Eucharistic minister for several years.
Bob enjoyed many years of going to Myrtle Beach, SC with friends, playing golf and enjoying life with his friend, Don Stroup. His family was the most important part of his life. He also enjoyed playing the drums in a band after high school for several years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosemarie; his sisters, Jean Church and Margaret Lister; and brother, William Hoosier.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sally J. Hoosier; stepdaughter, Kristen McCurdy (John); his children, Donna Dennis (John) and Karen Taylor (Mark); grandchildren, John Lewicki (Heather), Catie Fort (Lamar), Jeffrey Taylor (Megan), Colin Taylor (Meg) and Courtney Taylor (Nate); 12 great grandchildren, Adriana, Jaxin, Gavin, Shane, Vaeda, MiKayla, Roman, Mason, Brinley, Austin, Brooks and Maeve; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
You are invited to visit with Bob’s family from 10:00AM to 10:45AM on Monday, March 23, 2026 at Sacred Heart Church, 203 Church Road, Oxford, PA 19363. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00AM and interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Kennett Square, PA.
In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family kindly requests donations be made to the American Heart Association at heart.org.
