Ronald Deckman Obituary

Ronald L Deckman, age 78, of Kennett Square, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in 1947 and was preceded in death by his parents, Lorna and Roland Deckman, and his beloved Aunt Sis.

Ron was a Unionville High School graduate, and remained in Kennett Square for the duration of his life. He was a member of the VFW for many years, having served in the National Guard. There, he loved to shoot pool, dance, play league shuffleboard and darts. Ron was a passionate collector, even turning a favorite hobby into his own business, Ron's Baseball Cards.

Over the years, Ron had many cats and dogs, each one dearly loved. He took great pride in coaching his son's baseball teams, creating lasting memories on and off the field. Music was a constant presence in his home, except when a baseball or football game was on. Ron also had a fondness for sweets, especially vanilla ice cream topped with strawberries. He loved Easter and Christmas, making each one memorable with his creativity and enthusiasm. Ron grew up within a half mile of Longwood Gardens, and inherited his green thumb from his father, who spent his career there as a head gardener.

Ron will be remembered for his love of family and the joy he found in life's simple pleasures. He is survived by his son, Jason Deckman and his wife, Marie Field; his daughter, Valerie Winter and her husband, Erik; as well as one grandchild, Lyla Winter.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at 11:00am at Longwood Cemetery.
