Ronald Taylor Simpson Sr., of Avondale, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 19, 2025, at the age of 60.
Born in 1965, Ron was the son of Bruce and Margaret Simpson. He was born in New York, and later raised in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. He was the brother of the late Mary Simpson, the late Bruce Simpson, his wife Susan and sister Lori Simpson.
Ron is survived by his loving partner of 20 years Michele DiFilippo, his sons, Kyle and Ronnie; Ronnie’s fiancée, Zabdi, and her children, James and JJ; and Michele’s daughter, Ashley Cook, her husband Tony, and their daughters, Abby and Emilee, who lovingly called him “Poppop.”
Ron worked for over 20 years at Kaolin Mushrooms before continuing his career with Philips Brothers Electric. He was also a proud and active member of the Free Masons. In addition, Ron was a skilled pyrotechnician and played a key role in organizing and launching firework shows around the tristate area for many years—something he took great pride in.
A true hobbyist and craftsman, Ron collected Lionel trains and diesel motors, had a passion for American history, and loved attending NASCAR races. He was always tinkering or fixing something he had collected, with a knack for bringing old things back to life. Ron also grew his own peppers and tomatoes to make his signature Screamin’ Simpson’s Hot Sauce—a fiery favorite and staple on the tables of friends and family. He and Michele made countless memories during their annual beach trips to Wildwood, a tradition they both cherished.
He will be remembered for his deep love for his family and neighbors, his hardworking spirit, and his willingness to lend a hand or share a laugh. Ron never showed up empty-handed—he was always cooking something for a picnic or get-together, especially with his closest neighbors and friends: Ryan, Ashley, Tori, Alli, Daylin, and McKenna, who held a very special place in his heart.
