Rose Marie Marrone, 98, of West Grove, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Rose was born on January 11, 1927 to Giuseppe and Angeladea Fieni in Hershey, PA. After moving to Chester County, Rose attended Kennett High School where she excelled in gym class; she won awards that the high school continues to display. Rose has always had a passion for family, food, and community, so it’s no surprise that she was the proud owner of Marrone’s Delicatessen, located in West Grove; a cherished establishment she and her husband John opened on July 1, 1972. Before embarking on her journey as a business owner, Rose dedicated 28 years of hard work to the mushroom industry.
Rose’s love for cooking and gathering with family and friends was the heart of her life. Hosting family dinners at her home on both Friday and Sunday evenings was the norm, including her homemade pastas, sauce and meatballs, which are cherished family recipes. Even in her later years, she remained active at the family deli, where she found joy in greeting customers and sharing warm conversations. She was a beloved member of the West Grove community, touching the lives of all who knew her with kindness and unwavering dedication.
Rose is survived by her children: Harry Marrone (Christine) of Wilmington, DE; Nancy Losito (Charles) of Avondale, PA; and Patrick Marrone of Avondale, PA; along with her 9 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of love and hard work. Rose was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Marrone, Sr., her loving son, John Marrone Jr., and grandchild, John Marrone, III.
Rose will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her warmth, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of many.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 300 State Road, West Grove, PA. All are welcome to attend the viewing from 10 to 11:45 AM, with funeral mass held from 12 to 1 PM. Interment services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to The West Grove Fire Company at www.wgfc.org, PO Box 201 West Grove, PA, 19390 or Southern Chester County Regional Police Association; Venmo: @sccrpoa.
