Sandra L. (Semple) Cross

Sandra L. Cross, age 79 of Newark, DE, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, in Accent Care Hospice. Sandra was the wife of William J. Cross, Sr., with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2022.

Born 1946 in West Grove, PA, Sandra was the daughter of the late Foster Semple and the late Ella Wilson Semple.

Sandra graduated from Avon Grove High School. Though she worked in different fields throughout her lifetime, she most recently worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for over 10 years.

Sandra was truly a caregiver at heart. Looking after those she loved came very naturally to her. She adored spending time around the little ones in her family and cuddling with her grand-dogs. Her caring tendencies also extended to gardening – Sandra had an impressive green thumb.

She and her husband, Bill, traveled playing darts and were both members of the ADA Electronic Dart League in Delaware. Sandra was fun loving and enjoyed cruises, dancing, cards, and family game nights.

Sandra is survived by her children, William J. Cross, Jr. (Laurie), S. Michele Haldaway (Tony), Catherine Byrd and Brian M. Cross (Kelley); her sisters, Emmie Brooks and Barbara Saienni; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Semple.

A viewing will be held from 10:00AM to 11:00AM on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Landenberg United Methodist Church, 205 Penn Green Road, Landenberg, PA 19350. Services will begin at 11:00AM. Interment will follow services at Cochranville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Landenberg United Methodist Church, or to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute.
