Sangela Domenique Kirby, 59, of Lima, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Riddle Memorial Hospital.
Sangela was the beloved wife of the late James C. Kirby, with whom she shared 17 years of marriage before his passing in 2018.
Born in 1967 in Atlanta, Georgia, Sangela was the daughter of Michael McAllister and the late Jeanette Mills McAllister. She was raised in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, alongside her three sisters.
Sangela dedicated many years to caring for others, first in early childhood education and later as a food service worker at a retirement community. She had a natural gift with children and was a treasured aunt to her nieces and nephews, who will forever remember her warmth, kindness, and the love she had for each of them.
Sangela embraced life’s simple joys and had a special place in her heart for the Eagles (even when they lost!). She had an incredible memory and seemed to remember every story, every family moment, and every shared experience. She loved reminiscing and telling stories that made everyone laugh, smile, and remember moments they had nearly forgotten. Her storytelling kept family history alive and made those around her feel connected, loved, and not forgotten.
Throughout her life, Sangela faced many hardships with remarkable resilience. She refused to let adversity define her, meeting life’s challenges with courage, determination, and an unwavering love of life. She loved to laugh and show her beautiful smile and brought joy to those around her. Her strength, perseverance, and positive spirit will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Sangela is survived by her father, Michael McAllister; her sisters, Natasha Nicol, Anouk Lindley, and Felicia Eskridge; her sisters-in-law, Marianne Kirby Rhodes and Joan Kirby; her beloved nieces and nephews; her aunts, and many cherished cousins in Georgia.
Services for Sangela will be held at a later date. Details will be posted and updated in her online obituary as they become available.
Arrangements are entrusted to Kuzo Funeral Home of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
