Sara W. Lysle

Age 80

SARA WOOLENS LYSLE, age 80, of Landenberg, PA, died Friday September 11, 2015 at the Jennersville Regional Hospital in West Grove, PA. She was the wife of the late James B. Lysle, Jr. who died in 2011 and with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Forever in love, Sara was reunited with her husband on what would have been their 61st wedding anniversary.

Born in Oxford, PA, she was a daughter of the late Dwight and the late Helen (McMichael) Woollens.

Sara graduated from Avon Grove High School in 1952 and worked at Penn Del Supply Co. before embarking on her life long calling of raising a family. She was a Library Aide for the Avon Grove School District during the years her children were in school, retiring in 1981 to begin the next phase of her life, nurturing her grandchildren. She provided a loving daytime environment for each of her grandchildren and followed the last one to preschool. She was a teacher at Happy Heart Day School for 4 years.

She was a longtime member of the New London Presbyterian Church where she was member of the Women’s Evening Circle. Sara always worked behind the scenes providing meals, baking bread, serving in the nursery and praying for the needs of others.

Sara delighted in spending time with her family. She also enjoyed baking, scrapbooking and bird watching.

Survivors include one daughter; Jeanne Marie Moore & Jeffrey of Landenberg, PA and three sons; James H. Lysle & Jane of Oxford, PA, Richard D. Lysle & Juanita of State College, PA., Roger E. Lysle & Anne Marie of Lincoln University, PA; a loving nephew, Kevin Murphy of Landenberg, PA, who was like a son; one brother, Dale Woollens & Patricia of AL; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, one great grandson and two step great granddaughters.

She was predeceased by a sister Mary Alice Dudkewitz and a brother, Dwight Woollens.

You are invited to visit with Sara’s family and friends from 6-8PM Thursday September 17 and 10-11AM Friday September 18 at the New London Presbyterian Church 1986 Newark Road (Route 896), New London, PA 19360. Her funeral service will be 11AM Friday at the church. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
