Shirley Black Barry passed away peacefully in May of 2024 after a long illness.
Originally from Delaware County PA, Shirley lived primarily in Chester County PA.
Shirley is preceded in death by her dear husband and life-long friend Alexander Michael Barry Sr “Alex” and darling daughter Karen Barry Amaral. Shirley is survived by her children, Mike, Doug and Marilyn; grandsons Colton, Trevor and Sean; siblings Cynthia and David.
A teacher by vocation, Shirley earned both her B.A. and Masters Degrees in Education from West Chester State Teachers College. A long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of West Chester, she sang in the church choir. Over the years, Shirley enjoyed time with family and friends, music, sewing, travel, swimming, biking, cooking, word and board games, women’s bible circle and tv shows.
Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, feel free to plant a tree or gifts may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of West Chester, 130 W Miner St, West Chester, PA 19382.
