Spencer Robert Simmons passed away on April 14, 2025, at the age of 29. He was an attentive, devoted son, caring sibling, loving partner, and loyal friend who will be missed beyond measure.
Spencer was born on December 22, 1995, in Summit, New Jersey and was raised in Rye, New York. He had a wonderful childhood, growing up in a neighborhood in which he was an honorary and cherished member of several families. On any given day, he could be found playing sports or other games in the neighborhood cul-de-sac with his brother and all of his neighborhood friends. He spent his summers swimming, and playing tennis and golf. From a young age, he was a serious competitor (and good at most everything) but never, ever a sore winner.
Spencer attended Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut where he sincerely and fully embodied the school’s values of Courage, Honor, and Truth. He then joined his sister at Georgetown University in Washington, DC where he studied finance at the McDonough School of Business. He made some of his closest friends at Georgetown, including one who would later introduce him to the love of his life. After graduation, Spencer quickly passed all three levels of the CFA exam and worked as an Investment Professional first at Strategic Investment Group and then at Hackensack Meridian Health. He was a hard worker, valued employee, and trusted coworker.
Beyond his dedication to his family, friends, school, and work, Spencer was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles (notably, the Super Bowl LIX Champions), the New York Mets and Georgetown basketball. He was a condiment and buffalo wing enthusiast, surprising many a waiter when he asked for the spiciest wings available. He loved spending time with his family (and friends who he considered family) - jet skiing as well as playing bocce, cards and other games - on Long Beach Island, New Jersey.
Ask anyone who spent time with him, and you will hear that Spencer was the kindest, most easy-going, selfless, and honest person they knew. In his quiet Spencer way, he was always the first person to check in on a family member or friend in a time of need or to celebrate others’ accomplishments. He consistently demonstrated his love by being a thoughtful gift giver and just showing up. His one-of-a-kind hugs, big smile, infectious giggles, and sincere spirit will live on indefinitely in all of our hearts.
Spencer was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert Faccenda, Rita Faccenda, and Robert Simmons; and brother, Connor Simmons. He is survived by his loving parents, Robert and Maryann; sister, Sydney (Michael) and brother, Shane; grandmother, Patricia; girlfriend, Jennifer; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and innumerable friends, including those from the Preserve, Brunswick, Georgetown, and beyond.
