Stephan (Steve) Strengari, Sr. Obituary

Stephan (Steve) J. Strengari, age 74 of Lovell, ME, passed away peacefully in his sleep, at his home on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. He was the husband of Donna J. Schaefer Strengari, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

Born 1951 in Wilmington, DE, Stephan was the son of the late Louis Ettore Strengari and the late Anne DiFilippo Strengari Basilio. He grew up in Kennett Square before the family relocated to Newark while in middle school.

Following graduation from Newark High School in 1969, Steve did a term of service with the Delaware National Guard and he went on to work for Avon Products, Inc. in Newark for 37 years.

Steve lived for football. While at Newark High School, he played for an undefeated team and played at the Blue & Gold game, earning second team all-state center. His love of football extended beyond playing and watching the game and he happily coached Capitol Trail football for ten years. Steve loved sports so much he also involved himself in his kids’ sports as a judge/referee for swimming and coached his daughter’s 3 v. 3 soccer team which went to national’s at Disney World.

Steve was no stranger to the kitchen. His Italian roots meant there were countless hours gathered around kitchen tables with generations of family sharing stories, drinking coffee, and enjoying food made with love. He also enjoyed cooking and was known for his sauce, and pizzelles he made every Christmas.

What Steve was most passionate about was his family. He was a quintessential family-man and was happiest when spending time with those he loved.

In addition to his wife, Donna, Stephan is survived by his sons, Stephan Strengari, Jr. and Michael R. Strengari; his daughter, Victoria ‘Tori’ Strengari; brother, Louis Strengari and wife, Debbie; and sister Marlene Cybak and husband, Zenek. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Michael and Gemma.
