"Bill"

William J. Cross, Sr., age 79 of Newark, DE and formerly of West Grove, PA, passed away on Tuesday December 13, 2022 at his home.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Cross; children, William Cross, Jr. (Laurie), Michele Haldaway (Tony), Cathryn Byrd and Brian Cross (Kelley); siblings, Florence White (Jim), Russell Cross, Jr. (Esta) and Nancy Brower-Johnson (Dave); 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; as well as many close and loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill graduated from Kennett Area High School, class of 1961. Throughout his lifetime, he worked at Sears, Capital Bakers and the DuPont Chestnut Run Site, from where he retired after 35 years of service.
He managed, coached and umpired a little league baseball team, played in two softball leagues, was on a bowling team, a pool league, helped organize the Mason Dixon Dart League and shot in it for 42 years. Bills wife, Sandy, also shot for 35 years and they both shot in the ADA electronic dart league in Delaware.

Bill loved family time and parties, especially with the grandchildren. A favorite pastime of his was golf.

A viewing will be held from 10:00AM to 12:00PM on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Landenberg United Methodist Church, 205 Penn Green Rd, Landenberg, PA 19350 and his service will begin at 12:00PM. Burial will be held privately with family at later date.
