William Forrest Hammond Sr was born in the West Grove hospital in 1936. He lived in West Grove his entire life. He married his sweetheart Mary Ruth Kavanagh and was married for almost 62 years. Forrest and Mary Ruth have 5 children: Bill Jr, Lois, Chuck Sr, J.P (Nancy), and Michael. They have seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Forrest proudly served his community by being a member of the West Grove Fire company for 75 years. He served as a fire chief for part of that time. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He served his country in the National Guard and was a Korean war veteran for the United States Army.
Forrest was a very hardworking man who took great pride in what he did. The majority was working as a truck driver and equipment operator until he retired at the age of 82.
Forrest’s most valuable treasure was his family. He loved spending time with them whatever the occasion! He enjoyed being with his family at the Jersey shore every summer, he especially loved to people watch.
William Forrest Hammond Sr passed away peacefully on Monday July 13, 2026. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
You are invited to visit with William's family from 9:00AM to 11:00AM on Monday, July 27,2026 at Sacred Heart Church, 203 Church Road, Oxford, PA 19363. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00AM. Interment will be private.
