At Kuzo & Foulk Funeral Homes, we know that every life is unique-so the ways you choose to honor and remember them should be too. Whether you’re planning for an at-need service, thinking ahead, or remembering a legacy left behind, here are some creative and special ways to reflect on your loved one’s memory.
1) Picture boards
Creating a board with photos of your loved one is a great way to reflect on their life and memories created.
Displaying a picture board also gives those visiting a funeral service a wonderful focal point to gather and share memories.
2) Memory Box
Gather photos, written memories, mementos, and other special objects that you feel represent the person that has passed.
As more memories arise, you can continue to add items to the memory box, allowing a collection of memorial souvenirs to accumulate and be shared with family and friends for generations to come.
3) Memorial Quilt/Blanket
Using your loved one’s favorite pieces of clothing, create a quilt that can be used to provide peace and comfort in times of mourning.
Most memorial quilts are made up of t-shirts and sweaters, however a wide variety of clothing pieces can be incorporated.
4) Plant a Memorial Garden or Tree
People often bring flowers to funerals as a sign of sympathy, or even plant small gardens around the gravesites of our loved ones.
This idea of creating new life, through the planting of a garden or tree after a passing, can be therapeutic for those grieving. While you mourn the person lost, many find comfort in caring for what is essentially “a living tribute”.
5) Video Slideshow
A more “tech-savvy” alternative to a picture board-many families choose this option for its portability and customization options.
Video slideshows can include significantly more pictures than a photo board. Specific music can also be added to a slideshow to convey the personality of the person it is memorializing.
This short list only encompasses a small number of memorialization options-your imagination is the limit!
