David “Max” Maxwell

August 29, 1960 - May 14, 2017 Avondale, PA | Age 56 Loving Fiance, Father, Brother, and Friend

David “Max” Maxwell, 56, of Avondale, PA, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on May 14, 2017. David is survived by his fiancée, Laurie Blackburn, with whom he shared two loving years.

Born in West Chester, PA, he was the son of the late Donald C and the late Mary Lois (Young) Maxwell.

After receiving his education David went on to have various jobs, including a stone mason, but was most known for being the manager at Phillips Mushroom Farms of Kelton, PA.

When David wasn’t working he greatly enjoyed fishing and spending time at the beach, specifically Lewes, DE. Most of all, David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Along with his fiancée, Laurie, David is also survived by his daughters, Melissa Maxwell and Hannah Maxwell; his brothers, Donald C. Maxwell and Keith D. Maxwell and his wife; his sister, Andrea Maxwell Bonner and her husband; his grandchildren, Corey and Gabriel; and several nieces and nephews.

You are invited to join David’s family and friends to celebrate and commemorate his life on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 at the Red Clay Room, 423 Dalmatian Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348. David’s celebration of life will be held from 10am to 1 pm. Memorial contributions in David’s name may be made to the Colon Cancer Alliance (1025 Vermont Ave., NW – Suite 1066 Washington, DC 20005) or Forgotten Cats Inc. (4023 Kennett Pike, Suite 422, Greenville, DE 19807).

  3. Dave was very conscientious and thoughtful; he always tried to do the right thing in as professional a way as possible. In the last six years and more of his life, he showed tremendous endurance and persistence in leading as normal a life as he could despite a number of adversities. I admired his push to be the best he could be whatever the circumstances. I had not seen him in over three years, but I am happy to know that he was being cared for. My very sincere condolences to his girls and fiancée.

  4. Dave Maxwell was my first boyfriend back in the 8th and 9th grades. We remained friends through graduation and life happens and you lose touch. He was a wonderful friend and we our group had good times from riding horses to hanging out. Those were the days of innocence. You are missed my friend. Dawn Sexton
