Joseph “Joe Joe” M. Talamonti

March 24, 1947 - August 8, 2017 Kennett Square, PA | Age 70 Loving Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend.

Joseph “Joe Joe” M. Talamonti, age 70, of Kennett Square, PA, died Tuesday August 8, 2017 at Pocopson Home in West Chester, PA.

Born in Wilmington, DE, he was a son of the late Giuseppe and the late Frances (DiTomasso) Talamonti.

Joe Joe was an Inspector in the aviation industry for many years. He thoroughly enjoyed playing golf with his family and friends, especially getting great pleasure from his trips to Myrtle Beach every year with his buddies. He played on several softball leagues in the Downingtown and Kennett Square areas, and became a regular at the wine cellar for a taste or two, joining in the camaraderie with old and dear friends. In his spare time, Joe was also a bartender in the Downingtown area and at the Red Clay Room in Kennett Square. Joe loved music, which was apparent from his extensive record collection and his knowledge of the title, artist and year the record was introduced.

Joe-Joe’s sense of humor and library of “one liners” will be missed.

He was a member of the Kennett Square Fire Company and the Italian American Club.

Survivors include one daughter, Frances Funderburg and her husband John of Essington, PA; one brother, Tony Talamonti of Kennett Square; one sister, Donna Miller and her husband Dan of Kennett Square; one granddaughter, Shelby and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother Luigi.

You may visit with his family and friends from 8:00 to 9:30 on Friday morning, August 18, 2017 at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA. His Memorial Mass will  follow at 10:00 at St. Patrick Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square, PA. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.

  1. My deepest heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Joe Talamonti

    I had the privilege of working with Joe at Burroughs for 7 years. He epitomized the atmosphere of fun and at that great computer manufacturing plant.

    But even more are all the wonderful memories on the softball field. Again Joe epitomized all the fun and competition of that great softball league with the unlimited arc, and all the double-elimination tournaments. Man, they were great times and Joe was a big reason. He loved to play, he loved to win. Joe truly left his mark at work and at play and made everything more fun.

    Eventually I joined the Navy and made a career out of it, but I loved coming home and calling Joe and asking if I could come over to watch an NFL game with him or a Phillies game – and each time he would say “of course” those visits made my day I felt like I was home again, laughing and hearing all the stories and getting caught up.

    He was a very gracious host and made watching games on TV the most enjoyable and fun experience.

    All my memories with him are filled with happiness and laughter. Even when he got physically sick his mind was very sharp and he always had his wit and that great Joe Talamonti laugh and smile.

    To me he was a legend and a giant and I’m sure that God has put him in charge of recreational sports and host of all the playoff games of all sports. I was lucky to be a friend of Joe Talamonti. Gone too soon but never to be forgotten.

  4. To all of Joe’s family my sincere condolences. What a great guy. I worked with Joe at Burroughs for many years and played softball for almost 20 years with him. Memories: Joe the Organizer, designing uniforms; winning Downingtown League Championship; winning softball tournaments; organizing Burroughs Christmas parties; consuming too much beer at T’s Pub, and the band “Slick Willie”; Sunday Phillies games at the Vet, and more.
    There is a special seat just for him in heaven.

  11. Tony, Donna and families;
    One of my dearest and closest friends. His sense of humor and true concern for other people will be missed by everyone. Our friendship spanned more than fifty years; which included golf outings, many “phillies” games, softball, and a fondness for classic rock music. Rest in peace my friend; i will miss you calling me “cuz” .
