  2. I’m so sorry, I’m at a loss for words. Dottie just know that we love you both dearly and we are left with many great memories, traveling and dining out 1-3 times a week (always a good time) . He was so important to so many people, but one thing for sure, he is gone but he will never be forgotten.

  3. Dont know how to start but here goes I’m so glad that my mom and dad met mommom and poppop at the diner and became friends. I would have missed out on knowing and loving two great people. I would stop in and just say hi and to see the smile on poppops face. We would sit and talk about any and everything then I would look over at pop and he was sleeping lol. Such a great person to have in my life. I am going to miss hearing John Wayne in the background while calling when mommom answers the phone. Thank you for the great memories pop pop love you always.

  4. Dear Dottie, Angie & famiIy
I wish there were words to ease your pain. 37 years of being next door neighbors made us family. We shared the best of times & unimaginable sorrows. I treasure the memories of seeing you & Davis on the dance floor, of waving to each other while watching thunder storms on our respective decks, of seeing Davis & Fred mowing grass & using the snow blower all over the neighborhood, of Davis calling our dog, Annie over to sit on his lap, of Davis walking Paola down the aisle at Jamie& Paola’s wedding.
Davis was & always will be my “Champion”.

  9. To all of our family and adopted family, especially Pop-Pop’s adopted Firehouse Family that took such good care of him and Mom-Mom especially in the past few weeks. Your kindness and generosity toward our family has helped us survive and take care of Pop-pop during his illness. A special thanks to Gumby who held Pop-pops hand and spoke quietly in his ear “I Love you Pop”, and Stephanie for her many hugs and tears along with Mike, and all the members who came to visit with him and share your memories with Pop and told him”I love you”. He felt all of your love and he truly felt loved and that is all we could ask for! A special thank you to Ronnie & Andrew, Pop-Pop’s and Mom-Mom’s adopted grand children , who helped to do chores, visited with their children, made calls and still continue to show-up at the right time, I know that Mom-Mom will be ok. All our our friends who have called and visited and made food visits have made us fell loved too! We are the lucky ones and we will never forget your generosity!
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts!

  13. One Saturday night while taking care of a dance at the fire house I took a call for a shooting.
When dispatched, Davis came in and took me on my first ambulance call, because I knew where the place was.
That started a relationship that spanned for many years. Many runs together.
He was also the driver on my first fire call.
Many a night we met at the front door for an ambulance call.
One night it was three runs to West Chester Hospital before getting back.
There were nights we left someone’s party and had to help each other up the lovely Avondale side walks.
He will be missed around Avondale Fire Company and Borrow.
    I will miss him.
I Pray for the family as you go thru this time.

  14. I have tried to write this multiple times but I just couldn’t find the right words.
It feels like I have lost my dad all over again.
We started out as neighbors but time and love made us family.
Pop-Pop Davis always loved my family like we were his own.
I swear him and my dad use to sit on his deck and watch the grass grow. Then they liked to see who could get to the riding mower first, once a blade of grass moved in the wind. Yes, they shared a mower and were very proud of it.
Now, let’s see if my mom or Mom-Mom Dottie will be fighting over who rides it! 😂
Pop-Pop Davis will always be missed especially his hugs and his sly comments!
    Until we meet again, Pop-Pop.
    We love you! 💕

  16. Ronnie and I send our love and sympathy. We became family way back in our Diner Days when Dottie and Davis kindly watched my little boy while my dad was sick. The relationship continued and they became Mom Mom and Pop Pop to my sons. Davis had a wonderful kind heart and was a supportive and loyal grandfather to Kimmy and Johnny and kindly included Ronnie and Andrew.
I am thankful for the fun time he spent with our family and ask blessing for his family at this sad time.
Rest in Peace Davis we’re gonna miss you.

  17. A beautiful tribute to such a deserving man. Davis was always there to help others. He taught me a lot in the fire service and on the ambulance. Had a lot of good times with him and Dottie along with my dad. The Avondale Fire Co along with the community has lost a great man.
R.I.P. Davis. I know you and Dad will be raising hell up there.
Love and prayers to Dottie and the family.
